Hi!
This is maybe more of a Sametime issue but it relates directly to integration with Notes...
I like the chat history functionality inside the Sametime client, especially that it displays daily chat history when starting a new conversation with somebody.
However, I'd also prefer to have my chat history saved in my mail file. This makes it easy to search all of my correspondance with my colleagues at once, and my mail file is backed up more reliably than my local file system.
Right now these two things are mutually exclusive, according to the preferences: "Note: Only transcripts saved locally allow the daily chat history to be displayed in the chat window."
Are there any plans to change this? Even if it can't read directory from the mail file, I can think of two workarounds:
- Save the chat history to the mail file, but also save the daily chat history to a disk cache, that gets managed automatically by Sametime.
- Save the chat history to disk, but provide some way of importing the chat history to the mail file.
I'm assuming that this second option doesn't exist already, since I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I would like to see this for other reasons too though, since I have lots of chat transcripts since version 7.5 that I'd love to have in my mail file!
Thanks!
Bruce
